The BIG BRO
In September 2017, we are hosting the second Big BRO Race.
The event is a Triathlon with a bit of a twist; “BRO” = Bike, Run, Obstacle, although after tweaking last year’s event the order will now be Run, Bike and Obstacle. We start at The Playground in Barrow with a 4k predominately off-road run, followed by a 24k road bike around a scenic Suffolk route, once back you finish with the 25 obstacles at our purpose-built Outdoor Assault Course.
A test of endurance, speed and strength. It is a timed event, every participant will be given a timing chip, so challenge yourselves to beat last years’ time, set a new course record, or just a personal goal and enjoy the challenge.
Due to generous sponsorship, we are pleased to say that for the second year all your entry money is going direct to Breast Cancer Now, the UKs largest Breast Cancer charity.
Open to both men and women aged 16 and over.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK. One in eight women will face it in their lifetime. Nearly 700,000 people living in the UK have experienced a diagnosis.
Survival rates for breast cancer have increased dramatically. More than 80 percent of women who develop breast cancer will now live beyond five years. 40 years ago, it was only around half.
But that doesn’t mean we’ve got breast cancer under control.
Every year, around 650 women in Suffolk are diagnosed with breast cancer.
And more than 150 women in Suffolk die from breast cancer each year.
We can’t live with that. It’s time to act.
By 2050, we believe everyone who develops breast cancer will live – but only if we all act now.
Suffolk Breast Cancer Now, is entirely run by volunteers, and is one of the charity’s most successful fundraising groups. We believe that there will be a Last one to die from this disease, and that is what drives us. Last year the Big BRO Race raised £4500 for research, this year we want to raise more, so spread the word and challenge your friends to race with you!
